Clothes are rarely made for the person wearing them. Sleeves sit long, waists gape, a favourite pair of trousers is two inches too generous. Altering what you already own is almost always quicker, cheaper and better than buying again.

Everything is done on site by our own tailors in Summertown, and you are fitted in person in our changing room. No appointment needed — just come in during opening hours.

What we alter and repair: hems on trousers, skirts, dresses and coats; waists taken in or let out; sleeves shortened, including jacket sleeves worked from the shoulder; side seams and resizing after a change in size; zips repaired or replaced; linings replaced; patching, darning and hand mending.

How long it takes

Most alterations are finished within a week, and we can often be quicker. If you need something sooner, we offer a paid express service — same day or next day, depending on the job. Tell us your deadline when you come in and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

How it works

No appointment is needed. Come in during opening hours, bring the garment and the shoes you will wear with it, and one of our tailors will pin it on you in our changing room. We will tell you then and there what is possible, what it will cost and when it will be ready. Every job is priced individually — a simple hem and a full refit are not the same piece of work.
